Over  200 well-wishers attended the event, in spite of several Diwali get-togethers in the city that evening. Thanks to the generosity of the restaurant owner,  spectacular Halloween-themed decorations were provided with the venue.  Several entertaining programs followed, including a musical performance by the local band, FunMuzik, led by Balaaji, energetic  dance items by Step Bollywood, a musical comedy act, and a grand dinner. Sujeeth Menon and Priya Sivadas were the MCs, with Kavitha Pranesh and Keerthi Paliath following up after dinner. During the event, some notable contributors and supporters of the cause were honored. Among those were KP Hari Nair (Speridian) and Dr Ravi Vilupanur from CalPoly, Pomona. One of the highlights was a generous donation by  the teenage ‘PanchaNartakis’ – Nithya Menon, Soumya Ravichandran, Nidhi Warrier, Mansi Achuthan, & Varsha Sundar  –  dancers who made a special contribution based on gifts received at their own arangettram event. EAK Chair Dr Ravi Raghavan and OHM President Baburaj Dharan conveyed their appreciation to all for their support for this cause. Dr Geetha Ashok made a moving Powerpoint presentation   covering the highlights of the year, including audio & video messages from successful scholarship recipients.

EducateAkid thanks all the sponsors, donors, volunteers,  committee members and the OHM board for making this event a big success.  Some notable large donors for the year included Drs Shyam Kishan & Sharmila from Indiana, KP Hari of Speridian, Dr Geetha & Ashok Krishnan, and Mr Sajan Pillai from UST Global. EducateAKid collected over US$ 32000/- in the year 2013-14, which included a generous donation by Smt Jagruthy Gandhi’s dance students (Mudra Academy of Dance), who had earlier dedicated the proceeds of their annual performance to the EducateAkid cause.
