CSK Wins EAK Cricket 2019 (Fundraiser)

EducateAKid conducted its 4th Annual Cricket Fundraiser on May 11, 12 and 18th at Pantera Park, Diamond Bar, CA. 16 teams from various parts of Southern California competed for the prestigious title & recognition.  Thanks to all the 16 teams who participated with the competitive spirit and sportsmanship, even though the tournament, offered no cash rewards!!

California Super Kings (CSK) were undefeated in the tournament and won the championship.  Cerritos Thunders earned a well fought 2nd place, defending champions LA Avengers earned the 3rd place, while Torrance Tigers fought their way into the 4th position.


Manoj Seena and Shriram LakshmiNarasimhan from CSK won the individual awards for best batsman and best all-round performer respectively. Sanjay Sharma from LA Avengers was adjudged bowler of the tournament.

The tournament was inaugurated by Irvine Councilwoman Farrah Khan & EducateAKid chair Sreedevi Warrier. In her address to the community, councilwoman Farrah Khan requested the players to be more active in local politics and city initiatives.  She requested the players to get involved in the Irvine city initiative for an cricket facility.





The second day of the tournament coincided with Mother's Day.  EducateAKid thanks Sindhu Ponnarath for organizing the Mother's day celebrations along with the tournament!


The main sponsor for the event was Mathew Thomas who awarded the trophy to CSK. The award ceremony was presided over by OHM board members Sunil Raveendran, Ravi Vellitheri, Rema Nair and Suresh Enchoor.  The other sponsors of the event were Omni Realty, Varsha Nambiar, International School for Science and Culture, SOLO Sports, Tandoor Cusine of India, Namaste Plaza, Peacock restaurant, and  Annapoorna restaurant.  EducateAKid thanks all the event sponsors for their financial and material support.   EducateAKid also thanks Ravi Vellitheri, Viji Vinodh, Jiju, Rema Nair, KP Hari, Jayakrishnan & Sunalini, Vijay Kopparam, Ravi Raghavan, Sudhagar Subbiyan for their financial support towards the event.




EducateAKid cricket tournament is planned & executed by large group of long-time supporters of the charity.  The planning group consisted of Sreedevi Warrier, Ajeesh Nambiar, Arun Subramanian, Babapranab Krishnamoorthy, Dipu Nair, Ghouse, Jay Nair, Manoj Pillai, Prasad Nair, Ramprasad, Rema Nair, Ravi Vellitheri, Ramesh Menon, Ravi Varma, Sanjeev Sankaran, Sanjaye Elayattu, Smitha Sanjaye, Smitha Manoj, Subhash Pillai, Sujeeth Aravind, Sunil Raveendran, Suresh NP and Vimal Ghosh. The planning committee received appreciation from all the teams and audiences for yet another successful tournament.


In addition to the planning committee, the tournament was helped by event-day volunteers and umpires from participating teams.  EducateAKid would like to thank all the umpires, ground staff and event volunteers. Special mention to Vinodh Bahuleyan, Pranesh, Vipin, Rajiv Sankaranarayanan, Arun Subramanian, Palani (EOB), Ghouse(Avengers), Himanshu Garg, Sandhya Prasad, Suresh Enchoor, Ashwin, Dhanya, Divya, Bindu, Sreekumar (Diamond bar), Vishal Kaushal, Sreenivas (Diamond Bar) for their help during the event day. 


EducateAKid thanks all the team captains and players for supporting this event and taking it to new heights in 2019.   We hope that this tournament will help spread the word about the EducateAKid scholarship program to more people and help the program support more students in the future.
